Rookie question: grey mirrors

Ok, suddenly the external and interior mirrors were grey last time I used GTR2. I know there's a workaround to do with the car details (or shadow detail?) but can't remember which one is. I won't use my rig for a few days that's why the question.

There's a key command to turn mirrors off and on, check the controls menu.
