The Vanwall Vandervell 680 has followed the likes of the Ferrari 499P and Peugeot 9X8 by being revealed in-game for Le Mans Ultimate.
This time around, while we are bereft of finer details and gameplay footage, a series of four still images has been published by the Motorsport Games-led project.

That creation context is key, as the Austrian-German team’s Hypercar – that has been denied a 2024 season FIA World Endurance Championship entry despite plans to switch engines – is already available for the rFactor 2 platform developed by the same Studio 397 team.
However, based purely on these latest images, the model looks to have a significant increase in fidelity over the version seen in the venerable sim racing platform.
In fact, despite initial impressions, it has been confirmed to OverTake/RaceDepartment that the 680 has been rebuilt from the ground up for Le Mans Ultimate.

This follows a similar development process to the LMP2 Oreca 07 – long available for rFactor 2, the version seen in the upcoming official 24 Hours of Le Mans title is a fresh creation with data from the French race car manufacturer.
Spa-Francorchamps is once again used here for LMU teaser shots. It was unveiled in September that the venue would feature the current run-off areas and buildings, such as the grandstand at Raidillon.
The independent outfit, that acquired the rights to use the historic Vanwall name, experienced a rocky real-world 2023 World Endurance Championship season. A revolving door of drivers included João Paulo de Oliveira, Ryan Briscoe, Tom Dillmann and 1997 Formula 1 champion Jacques Villeneuve.

Only Argentinian and 2019 FIA World Touring Car Cup runner-up Esteban Guerrieri lasted the whole season behind the wheel for the Colin Kolles-run squad.
For Le Mans Ultimate, that means the Cadillac V-Series.R and Glickenhaus SCG 007 LMH are yet to be showcased from the top category. At the same time, in the GTE class the Chevrolet Corvette, Porsche 911 and Aston Martin Vantage are so far absent.
The platform is set for release on 20th February 2024 on PC via Steam with 2023 WEC season content.
