Le Mans Ultimate’s Next Update Slated For June, Imola Scan Completed

Le Mans Ultimate’s Next Update Slated For June, Imola Scan Completed.jpg
Work continues on the early access Le Mans Ultimate. There won’t be a major update in May, with June as the target.

Following April’s ‘Patch 3’ for Le Mans Ultimate, the next major additions are set for June completion.

Affirmation of the timeline comes from, initially, Motorsport Games’s CEO when he talked to OverTake recently, followed by updates from development team members in the Le Mans Ultimate Discord.

“Regarding [a] roadmap, I think it’s clear we can’t yet commit to certain dates, but we are working on an update for June (I feel that much is out of the bag now) - it won’t have everything you want, but it’ll be a big first step,” posted Ben Rossiter-Turner, VP of Competition at Motorsport Games.

When asked if online driver swaps will arrive then, however, the answer is a bit more complex.

“I will specifically say that isn’t happening for June,” continued Rossiter-Turner.

“It’s very complicated and intertwined with other work so that we have a better solution than rFactor 2.”

Further clarification was provided that while there may not be a ‘major’ update in May is expected, hotfixes may still be issued between now and next month.

2024 Imola Scan Concluded

2024 FIA World Endurance Series content was confirmed as being in development before the simulation’s February early access launch. It now seems that it has taken a step forward with a new scan of the Imola circuit being concluded.

“There was a 2024 Imola scan done weeks before the race,” confirmed Dan Wrenn, Marketing and Content Producer at Motorsport Games.

Le Mans Ultimate is currently on a tour of European WEC rounds, recently visiting the Imola round between 19th-21st April. Now it transpires the venue was scanned on the run-up to the event.

I keep seeing people (misguidedly) say this is nothing but an rF2 clone... but, as you can see, it isn't!

Be it a full grid of WEC cars and liveries, updated AI for multiclass, new menus, a fresh and accurate LMH/LMDH hybrid simulation, a different driver swap solution, and probably more under the hood... there's plenty more than "just rF2" in this game. :)

Agreed, but you know how it goes. If we're being honest, a vast majority of the sims we enjoy are just revisions and expansions built upon the foundations of engines that first saw the light of day 10 and 20+ years ago at this point. Seeing the pace of patches and fixes S397 keeps pumping out is encouraging for the future of LMU. It's got plenty going for it so far and plenty more potential to fulfill as they hone it and flesh it out.

The little bit of hot lapping and experimenting I can get in with VR has been fun, enjoying the hell out of trying to tame the hypercars...a real challenge to try to get fast and consistent with. The Caddy has been a nice replacement for the guillotine and electric chair on my end. Eau Rouge has made a virtual widow of my wife in LMU more times than I care to count.

if they still delay in implementing vr, it may no longer be worth buying it for users who haven't already bought it, the knowledge gap with day1 users would become unbridgeable
One of the poll things on this website recently showed that only a smaller percentage of users have VR, so really I don't think it's the end of the world if it doesn't have it. Seems like a vocal minority in the comments makes it sound more popular than it is.

This needs priority and fixing before anything else, terribly, totally unrealistic.

  • Cadillac V-LMdH
    • Note: Due to suspension geometry of this car, it has a tendency to pull steering towards the direction of steering
  • Ferrari 499P LMH
    • Note: Due to suspension geometry of this car, it has a tendency to pull steering towards the direction of steering

Also FFB levels between cars still need sorting out, which they did on patch 3, but then chanfged it back again with a hotfix cause folks could'nt get their heads round an arbitrary number

It's only a game so there's no way any aspect of it could be the end of the world, even if, for the sake of ultimate realism, the developers had implemented VR and not monitor support, it wouldn't be the end of the world now, would it?

Cant wait for Imola!

I would like a dollar for every time I heard rF2 user say that :p
I thought it was obvious since first announcement of LMU that rF2 update if any would come after LMU 2024.
I don't see how anything less would be a good economic or strategic move.

19 % is not a “smaller” %, it is significant. Triple screen is 10%, should they totally ignore it?
VR driver are vocal because in 2024, not offering VR when claiming to be offering a SIM, is retarded.

The actual WEC race at Imola was crap though - zero overtaking, its not really a hypercar circuit.

Personally i hate Imola but mainly because im just not good at it :)

Agree same as F1 there, though the passing through GT traffic was pretty spectacular at times.
I don't read much from this news, I think we get full 2024 later then sooner.
