Well here is my proper write up for last nights race, and a brief summary of the season for me. Decent turn out in the end considering all the updates, but I guess by the last round the remaining drivers really are the committed ones. Although I must give a shout out to the guys who had connection issues, very unlucky and a sad way to end the season.
Not to to dwell on it too long, but I had a little coming together with a driver during practice. Whether or not you are trying to put together a hot lap, you must always drive to the conditions around you and be observant as to what other drivers are doing, and not drive as if you are hot lapping in single player mode. Anyway, there is no problem; this is not a rant just advice for the future
Qualifying was disappointing for me, I think the nerves of the showdown got to me a little and I was over 0.8 off my PB. I managed to get P3 behind Miroslav and Anthony who both did a great job.
At the start of the race I had my usual strong get away, but immediately received a fright as Anthony was very slow getting away in front of me. I managed to get out and around him while keeping up enough momentum to challenge Miroslav for the lead into turn 1. I took the lead and gave it everything for the opening couple of laps to pull out a small gap to break the slipstream while Craig and Miroslav disputed P2. Once things settled down I just kept to a steady pace for the first half hour, being gentle with the tyres and just doing enough to keep the gap increasing. At the halfway stage the car felt good so I pushed on for the last half hour and managed to break into the 2:21's for the first time. It was a real pleasure to drive on the limit around the full Sebring circuit, definitely up there with my favourite tracks, and to do it going into dusk was really special, especially with the fireworks and lights around the circuit in the final few laps! It great was a great way to send off the championship, and made the win that little bit more special.
I'm really pleased to finish the championship with another win against tough competition, it's a shame about the pile up at the start, tough break for the guys involved with that especially for Davy as I believe he got caught up in that, unlucky after such a strong, consistent championship campaign.
Overall this has been one of the most enjoyable championships that I've been a part of. The cars a great, as were the circuit choices, and the racing has been top notch. My highlight of the season has to be the battle with Davy in Round 3, the intense last 10 minute fight for the win. Racing in the rain was also a great addition to the championship, as was racing into the sun set, definitely gives an added spice to the racing.
Big thanks to everyone who made it to the end of the season for some great races, but most of all thanks to Marco and RD for putting on a great league and for all the hard work.
Here's to the next one!
