Automobilista 2 Updated to Version V1.3.4.0

AMS2 February Update 01.jpg
Automobilista 2 has been updated to version 1.3.4.0, which brings another round of improvements and fixes, plus more CART cars.

Reiza Studios was a little late delivering their second monthly update for 2022, but the build that is now available for download on Steam features some improvements that should make it worth the wait.

Many of us first look for new content with the monthly AMS2 updates, and this time around there are some new CART cars to try out. Two new cars are available in the Racin' USA Pt 2 DLC, both from 1995. These are the latest to join arguably the best car class in the game, the classic American open-wheelers from the F-USA class.

Besides a large number of track and vehicle improvements which are listed below, there are some UI and general fixes implemented via this update. VR uses will see a significant improvement to their experience in AMS2, as the in-car mirrors can now be properly adjusted. For those making adjustments on the fly, you will notice the additional button mapping possibilities for the ICM.

Below is the full changelog, so be sure to let us know your thoughts once you've had a chance to try it out.

If you have VR headset with canted displays (pimax) the performance is not that good even if it's ok, Supersampling at 70% (no rain, day) compared to 100-110% in AC/rF2 and iRacing at 160% that have implemented all the NVIDA features, all with similar visual settings. Non canted VR headset should perform better, but have not tried any.

However, that might change since the gfx engine should support rendering with two different angles (assume it's something like rendering triples correct).
Its an old Samsung Odisay plus. The problem with this kind of WMR headset is thats very prone to shimmering on all kind of objects.
In AC its partial being solved by the AAfilters CM is using.

With regards to the aggressiveness, turn the damage up to 200%, will make you less aggressive as well and will bring it all back together. I think I have already expressed my gratitude Reiza. PS Save Game ;)

I don't agree at all, the AI if anything they are sometimes too timid - I've had many occasions when they back out of passes that would have easily been on or if you go side by side through a fast turn and you get the nose ahead they just yield rather than fight it out.
It can be both. Especially in open-wheelers the AI stick the nose in way too often (because they have artificial grip on corner exits), even when there is no space, and never yield an inch, yet they don't finish the overtake as you describe. This pattern repeats corner after corner.

Strangely I have no problem with aggressiveness with the AI, I sometimes have the impression that we are not playing the same driving simulation. The same goes for the brakes, I dose my braking as easily as with a car or a kart. Do not understand.

I've made the jump to VR recently, and have since dropped ACC from my #1 sim back to AC. That said, my interest in AMS2 has been coming up.

I tend to skip any career modes and basically race 99% in multiplayer lobbies. Is the online community on the rise? It seems that some reviews say that the online presence of racers is lacking.

Youll find populated lobbies if you are in europe, mostly in the evening of course. Most of the time GT3 or brazilian series. Online in itself works well imo, regarding netcode etc

Reiza did bloody well to get this update out seeing as two of their main devs are affected by the war going on between Russia & The Ukraine. There was stuff I was hoping to see, some it I have, some of it I've not, but all in all, considering current events, not a bad job, not a bad job at all! Bravo Reiza!
You need to be really concious about how you treat your engine in the new Carts (that goes for all gens) and cheers for sorting out the hard tire physics crash! Really enjoyed making this, especially when the train came past, just at the right moment!
