Melbourne hosts the third race of the 2022 F1 calendar, where drivers will test their metal at the temporary circuit Albert park.

This season has had a few surprises with drivers returning and how some teams are performing, we've had Kevin Magnussen return to Haas and the likes of McLaren and Mercedes struggle.

So far, Ferrari and Red Bull appear to have the pace advantage of the other teams, with both cars looking more capable than their opponents. Alpine and Alpha Romeo Ferrari have both started the season well, by qualifying and finishing in the top 10 of both races.

We’ve seen plenty of action at the front of the pack with Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen fighting for the lead at both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, and surely we are hoping for more of the same this weekend.

The new 2022 regulation changes are designed to allow the car behind to drive closer to the car ahead, and so far the new regs appear to work. The underlying question at this time is whether DRS is too powerful and that question could be answered at Melbourne, which has an unprecedented 4 DRS zones.

Bahrain and Saudi Arabia were back to back, which didn’t give the teams much time to analyse their cars. Now that there has been a two week break, will we see any new developments to any of the cars? Could we see a team like McLaren further up the field and could Mercedes mitigate the porpoising that their car is prone to?

Do you think they’ll be any surprises this weekend?

These qualifying sessions with cars creeping around is hard to watch wondering when the BIG one is going to happen. Fortunately, no one was hurt in the 'I thought you wanted to go fast' game.

Only one solution: there has to be a minimum speed limit on the track.

The track has had some minour modifycations. Its nice that we have tracks that you can mouve things around. Unlike a old school street circit where things are a little cramped. I still believe permanent tracks make for better racing and i like the fact there is a space between the edge of the track and barrier. But street circits is trhe way the racing is going. And tight walls are good at enforcing track limits. And bringing out the saftey car whitch we will see a lot of on the street circuits. So it will be go stop cleanup start stop ect. As you run about 100 miles of the 200 mile distance under green. Don't like the track never did but young people will. I saw the snooze fest that was Formula e at rome. I hope that is not what F1 will become in the future.

How good it is to see the GOAT with a really bad car, with the teammate managing to extract more from the bad car than the "best in the world"
If you mean Lewis he is not a GOAT. The problem with F1 is numbers don't add up. He had a good car and the key people are going to Red Bull. Making Mercedes weak. With any team that is successful contracts end and you mouve onto new teams. It would be dull if you stayed on a team for your whole career.

Nicolas Latiffi is a reasonable driver but needs to get results or loose his place on the team. Lance is a more experienced driver. And expects latifi to stay behind.
I think there are MANY far better drivers around than these two.
They are only in F1 because daddy has the cash.
And to be honest: Latifi's results in his F1 career have been embarrassing, with no sign of improvement at all.

Latest on BBC..
Regarding the Hamilton headline ("Hamilton does not enjoy driving the Mercedes"): I can fully understand why he doesn't enjoy the Merc: did you see his head bouncing up and down in the in-car camera shots? I wonder how he can see anything! He must be beaten up when the race is over.

BUT... we will really see now what kind of driver he really is. For the last 7 years, he's had the best car on the grid. Now that's he's facing a big problem, how will he react? Quit? Or work harder to push his team to up its game?

Easy, now... This has nothing to do with citizenship nor origin of birth.
Your shares and respect is still high.. Trust me, m8. :D
You're right! Still, I can't help but cringe a little! ;)

26 years ago, another Canadian almost won his first ever F1 race on the same track. Nice memories...

Somehow he will be on the podium.
Don't you think ?

you mean 'somehow the FIA will find a way to get him on the Podium?' ;)
This is pathetic.
Unless you mean: just like FIA found a way to hand Max the worldchampionship on a platter in Abu Dhabi....

Could be, if there are a few retirements. In a way, I hope so. Not a Hamilton fan, but I certainly don't hate him like too many people do. And it would be a good show to see him fight his way back to the front.
Yes, the hatred is a real nuisance..
I'm thinking.. A really good driver can take a crap car and do some magic.. and make it to the Podium.

You are pathetic.
You DID see the wink emoji there didn't you. Tongue firmly in cheek. Both Mclaren & Mercedes are getting closer, but if you believe the Mclaren boys, it is due to the flowing nature of the circuit. In their current forms, I suspect both teams will suffer more at tracks with lots of low speed corners.
With the elimination of the chicane, it reduces the places where congested traffic induced crashes could occur, which lessens the chance of top runners dropping out.
