Not at all familiar with Rennsport so was reading what little I can find. And encountered this curious statement, "...a second team is working on ... the technical base platform for the APIs that partners will use".

What exactly does this mean?

Think it's referring to the API that will make modding possible. Another API hook would be access to telemetry data.

But your API would be open. How the call would be dealt with in the code is up to the developer and can be encrypted. Don't see the problem here.
