Unfortunately it creates an unsightly contrast with the steering wheel buttons and blurs the text labels. Any way to make the mask responsible for that transparent?

I can't imagine how that's possible because the GEN_MATES file doesn't modify the stering wheel thats part of the VRC_BODY file. I made sure all parts all transparent where they supposed to be for example the lower endurance front light and the windows.
 
Not the best lighting in these examples, sorry. You can see the boxy outline around the top buttons (visible on all with direct light) and blurry text on the Ferrari wheel. This is with the Ferrari skin available here on Race Department. When I remove the GEN_MATES file from the skin, the steering wheel textures look like the stock VRC example. Not sure why it doesn't look like the preview picture you posted :(

Mate to be honest i really don't know i have no issues with my files some are connect to the chrome extension maybe thats an issue.

I just tested and a friend of mine too, try to update the google extensions or maybe update the lights_patch honestly i don't know because the file doesn't change nothing related to the steering whell . @Artood2s

So after talking to someone with the same problem tho not related to this files, if you are using opera and don't have chrome installed that might be the issue otherwise i don't know.
