New F1 replica wheel by Sala Motorsport

Hi guys,

Came across this new company that is making an exciting new product. It's an F1 wheel that is made with the exact same pre preg autoclave process of the actual f1 wheels. Probably the closest thing to the real thing and some how even better!

Its been posted on the leo bodnar forums but I'll share it here as well for those that are considering the ultimate f1 wheel rim. Here are the details of the wheel.

SalaMotorsport are 80% complete on the new F1 Sim steering wheel and it will be available in the new year.
This wheel is pre-preg carbon fibre construction and will use the new Leo Bodnar SLI-F1 unit and has 28 control buttons, switches and dials, all fully programmable.
Made in the exact process that the real formula one (£45,000) wheels are made and only the best materials and top quality switches from Leo Bodnar are used in its construction.
Production wheels will have Alcantara grips, leather or suede, clear extra led’s and Electrical Lifeline quick release bosses with adapters for all types of wheel base.
It will be come in its own flightcase for protection.
More updates to follow.
The Salamotorsport website will be up and running at the start of 2013.

The interesting thing is he's gonna definitely consider making other f1 replica wheels in the future.
There's currently adapters for ecci and g25/g27, but he will be making adapters for the CSR elite and also the CSW.
The lifeline quick release comes with an option of either wired 4 pin or 8 pin. The 8 pin will definitely come handy for wiring the 4 wires that connect to the extra vibration motors that come with the CSR-E rims and the CSW rims. And can be purchased pre wired from Scott by Sala Motorsport. There are no information as to when this will be launched as it is also very dependant on launch of the SLI-f1. All dimensions and details, Scott seems to be striving to get them as close as possible to the real lie counterpart. In my opinion, it looks worthy of a display piece, to be framed in a man cave!

Scott, did you get an approval for the FIA badge? I know this has been asked before, somewhere.

Just saying, that might cause a massive legal problem if you're selling something with their badge on it but without approval.

Hi Tom,
All Sala wheels will come with Sala logos and numbered dials as standard and anything with a second parties company on it will be supplied separately and can be re badged by the new owner of the wheel, making it completely legal.
Cheers
Scott.

Hi Scott, I can't stop looking at the new pictures you posted. It's truly a work of art.

I noticed the new aluminium spacers, are they gonna be included to all the wheels? WIll a thin 26mm transparent resin dome of the Ferrari badge be included in this as discussed a while back before? I know it's not on the real thing but it does make the logo look slightly better. Users can choose to use them or not later.

Hi Nick,
Yes new new aluminium spacers will be on all the wheels and the resin dome's can be sent out no problem.

Even though i have sli-f1's i can't wire them in yet as bodnar have not completed the firmware for the units and they are telling me to hold of on the wiring until they can send me a file and the wiring diagrams.

the wheel will come with an extra cable to plug into the back so that programming and testing can be done in comfort away from the wheel base and quick release system.

Cheers
Scott

Now that is a brilliant feature. Well thought out Scott. This means the wheel can be plugged in and have its sli working and double as a sort of button box if mounted properly, when other rims are being used with the quick release. Is the plug point a separate mini USB point or do we plug the mini din cable through the wheel quick release.

Which is the base console for this wheel?
Did you mean the quick release male spline or the actual wheel base that provides the ffb and steering inputs? This is only the wheel rim. You will need a wheelbase like a Logitech g25, t500 or Fanatec csw and then easily convert that with the provided adaptors from sala Motorsport to get them working.
