6 - The rSeat 45 Minutes of Homestead Miami

To call me extremely pissed off right now would be an understatement.

Been sick and in and out of the hospital the last two weeks. Lost 6kg so far throwing up nearly every day. Not a pleasant experience. Grabbed the wheel today and I just feel like ****. Had no pace, but somehow qualified somewhere half respectable.

Had a good start, gained a couple spots, got rammed by Pavel 'BTCC' Bienkowski (to use his iRacing forum nickname) despite giving him as much room as I could, spun me off a few positions back, gained a few back when people spun off and generally tried to keep the broken car on track without spinning. Succeeded....until the last few laps when I finally lost it and lost 10 seconds which cost me another spot. Finished I don't even know or care what position.

Meanwhile Ricardo had the practice pace to be up there with Roland, but with other cars around he gets 20fps on a laptop so he was even slower than I was in my condition, then got disconnected.

A complete disaster, but then again that describes every single race our team has done in this series.

Thanks to the organizers for putting up a pretty good series, hopefully I'll have fun in the black cup. Grats Roland and ineX. Cya, I'm off to the bathroom, I think I feel my stomach contents rising again

Moderate practice and seems like wing 1 setup was wrong way to go, speed on straight was wasted into limiter and although all infield corners were 1st and 2nd gear, i still lost much speed as i needed to make the suspension understeery to prevent the car from rotating by itself with 1 wing.
Quali decent time but not a decent place, got away from the start good but decided to just take position in the train going very slowly pretending like it wasnt a race for the first corners. Then for half of the race just kept climbing from people spinning and did OK.
Finally settled down to some spot and saw Pablo climbing fast, at first i thought i will just let him go anyway but the train behind him was faster than me too so decided to try to hold out.
Good battle with him for a few laps with side by side stuff and although he was hitting me alot due to being faster it was ok. Then we exited onto the straight where i immediatly took inside line until the oval, as i saw him go to right i took a little to the right to make the oval turn a little easier but he dived inside of me and as far as i saw it was a cheeky peek as he was over the white lines by the time he was next to me so i expected him to back off as he could pass me soon anyway but it was pretty much like Raikkonen and Perez incident in Monaco - technically by the rules the overtaker was allowed for room but the move was unreasonable so morally i wouldnt blame myself.
Well anyway he continued to P6 but i crashed to the wall, requiring 10 mins of repairs. Watched his onboard too and i had pretty much the same reaction but il just forget this, nothing good will come over this discussion anyway.

Hope for STC to grow even more in popularity and atractiveness of top sim drivers. If not me, then flatout team itself will definatly be there, trying to get back the drivers we had when we won the old days of STC

The time that I did on a qualifying run in the Movie-Go practice server would have been enough to slot me in to 10th place on tonight's grid. Unfortunately it seems that luck had it in for me, I screwed up my official qualifying and started in something like 17th?

Anyway, I started okay, but lap 1 troubles hit me again - coming out of turn 6/7, I couldn't help running wide and forcing a car onto the grass (apologies), but then one corner later what appeared to be another car in the same livery turned me around.

So I had a bent car, and I'll keep it short by saying it was an absolute nightmare in the pits. I finally managed to get back out about 7 or 8 laps down on the field. Even then, as I circulated, I had to pull back in to the pits twice to alt-tab out and postpone a computer restart, which decided to rear its ugly head then of all times.

I kept driving as briskly as I could, and trying my best to let lapping cars by safely. I picked up a few positions along the way thanks to a few drivers suffering misfortune and finished 27th in the end.

It was close in championship points for Movie-Go Racing and surrounding teams before this round, so hopefully my dismal finish (along with Linus' stellar performance to finish 14th) did enough to secure Reggie's team in the top 10!

Thanks for putting this series on guys, I had fun while my luck lasted in my 2 appearances...

Race was quite tough for me but it was kind of expected since I lacked good preperation and I don't have enough time/experience with the car for me to be comfortable.
Qualy was pretty straight forward, got a good first lap and didn't try a second time. Got pole by a small margin.

I'm dreadful at standing starts 9 times out of 10 in any car, and that was the case this time as well. Luckily only lost one spot. so was down to second and made heaps of mistakes. Didn't get in to the rhytm that I wanted and as soon as Dave was close enough behind me, I let him go on the oval part. But the racing at this track was weird and it felt like me and Dave were just in the way of each others even if we tried to avoid that. I got passed Dave again and then I made a mistake so Dave got by again and then I made a mistake again and again. Still ended up 3rd somehow.

Something was really weird for me coming in to this race, even if I started on pole I wasn't motivated for the race because I was just so unsure about what was going to happen, how the car was going to react over a longer run etc etc, since I just lack experience with this car and havn't been up to date and active on the simracing side lately. And all my mates at inex had already won the title so my performance of this race wouldn't make a difference.

Race setup wasn't too shabby and car was handling fine but my head just stopped me from doing a good race. Last hairpin before the oval was my enemy during the whole race and i lost a lot of time there, so I tried to make it up in other ways instead and it just made it worse.
I think if I just could have been better in that turn, everything would have gone well since I wouldn't overpush to make up for lost time.

Happy with the qual so will try to think about that instead.
Congrats to Roland to the win and great job by all the STC guys and everyone on the stream etc!!

Hi all, I'm Ricardo Castro Ledo from ABRacing.

Here is my race recap:

"I haven't really time to practice for this one, I have important exams next week so I couldn't practice like I wanted. I had to learn the track because I bought it for this race, but not a difficult track at all.
I found immediately a good pace here, I don't have experience with the McLaren so I just tried to find a good balance with the car and I haven't tried to have the most performant setup that I could.
Luckily I had a really good pace even if I didn't know how will be my opponents so my objectif was the top 10 because the team needed points.

So during the day of the race I just practiced 20 minutes before race and I had my first problems, FPS was really low and unstable, unfortunately it was worst in race...
I was confident for qualify, best lap on practice before was just a 13.1, knowing that I had the pace to do at least 12.9 (even if I never made it but it was pretty obvious I could do that) so I was confident.

Qualify:

During the outlap I cut the line of pit, black flag, I had to reset the car, 1 lap wasted...
So I just had one lap, I made it very coutious during the lap, not really agressive, was on a high 13.1 low 13.2 but I made a half spin on last curve who make me lost 1 tenth because the exit was bad.
13.363 not that bad but could be better.

I'm sure with one more lap I could do pole but don't worry, 4th on grid is really good.

Race:

Just before the race Joao said me that the objective is the points so we had to take 0 risk.
I had no idea of the method to start without cluch pedal with the McLaren so I made like with the F1, unfortunately it didn't work and made a half spin, lost one position, I was very cautious so I losted an other position.
My FPS haven't help me, ridiculously low during the begining (and during the race but it was a bit better after firsts laps), I was seeing a group of 4 drivers was escaping so I wanted to pass Angelo but made a mistake and losted all my confidence, Joao was asking me what was happening because I had a great pace on practice, the only explication I have it's the low FPS and some connection problems began to appear...
I losted one more position because of a mistake and after I was just waiting on 6th position because I was seeing a good battle for 4th position and I wasn't enough confident because of all my problems to fight with them so I was waiting to a opportunity to pass them if they made mistakes. I was planning to go on fight on last 5 minutes when...
Disconnected... Great! Finished something like 25th

Congratulation to all, to Roland, the podium it was fun despite everything!

Sincerely I was more disappointed for the team than for me, even if I had the pace to fight with Roland but with the race circumstance at top 5 will be great! Mainly when the level was so high!
I'm also disappointed for the team because it was good points for standings, congratz to Joao for his great result knowing that we was sick and he haven't really practiced for this one because he couldn't, with practice I'm sure we could be on top 5.
I hope ABRacing will rebound on STC Black Cup, I'm sure!
We had a horrible season with bad luck in all races, I'm sure ABRacing could fight for better than a top 10 but nothing help us this season...
Well done to ineX team for championship, you were awesome! So see you all!"

Sorry for my english.

To finally add few words for Team Infalux here on RD forum.

It has been a very hard season for us. We entered the league in the last moment as a backup, so we had to deal with evertything fast. It was the same thing with drivers. Having 8 drivers on the list before the first race, to dropping only to 3, so a big thanks to David who alowed me to switch a driver from the list with a new one. Lots of obligations and problems irl to dedicate myself seemd like description of our whole team.

Race wasnt spectacular. I bought a track hours before the race itself. It was a simple track, so it wasnt a problem to learn. had a goal for 14 mids in race, and 13 mid for quali, but ended up a second off pace.

I haven't had any goals for the 1st season result-wise, eventho top10 seemd like a reachable goal. But from some calculations we should be o 11th (considering other teams around had a 0 points race, as 1 race result will be scrapped).

For the Black cup we'll have much more time to prepare ourselves, and hopefully we'll have more time for practice sessions over the season!

At the end, I'd like to congratulate to ineX for winning, and to David (and Xose) for bringing STC to life and making it a nice place to race

thx all teams for a great season, hope all of you +1 will turn up after summer again. Some ideas for little changes to the series will be discussed over the summer with team managers, so stay tuned. As Xose said: we noticed a couple of incidents in race control but only one team contacted us and that was deemed a racing incident, so no penalties handed out.
